Sam McCann

My main research interest is the impact of poverty associated risk factors on early brain development, with a specific focus on the impact of undernutrition and the benefit of nutrition specific or nutrition sensitive interventions. From 2016-18 I was the Higher Scientific Officer in the Gambian arm of BRIGHT and oversaw the day to day running of the project. I then completed a PhD ‘The Relationship Between Nutrition, Growth and Neurodevelopment in Infants and Young Children in Rural Gambia’ within the team from 2019-2020.

Prior to BRIGHT, I completed a BSc in Medical Neuroscience at the University of Sussex and an MSc in Public health at London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine
