I am a Reader in Developmental Cognitive Neuroscience and lead the Babylab at the UCL Great Ormond Street Institute of Child Health. I am interested in developing tools to assess cognitive and social skills in infants in order to help identify earlier those who are at most risk for atypical developmental outcomes. This involves working with a variety of populations, including infants with epilepsy or stroke, those born preterm, those born with visual impairment, and those with brain infections.

Much of my work focuses on recording brain electrical activity as a measure of infant cognitive and social processing, as these measurements can be taken easily while infants look at or listen to different sights and sounds. I am also working to develop tablet-based assessments of infant learning, that can be administered quickly and easily in clinical settings, as a possible alternative to the assessments that are typically used, which are time consuming and required specialist training to administer.
